Our Charcoal and Himalayan Soap Bricks are specifically formulated to be highly cleansing. In soap terms, the cleansing quality of the soap is referring to the oils it is stripping away as it lathers. These soaps are ideal for people who have very oily skin, or are in contact with a high amount of oils such as massage therapists and mechanics. Due to the strong cleansing quality of our charcoal bricks the benefits are best realized when used as part of a complete skincare routine that includes a moisturizer.

When you hold this soap in your hand you’ll understand why it’s considered a brick. Each formulation is made with intentionally chosen ingredients. The combination of oils and salt, along with their extensive cure time produces a noticeably hard bar of soap. This means it will be long lasting even if it’s your daily shower soap.

We have created variations of our Original Charcoal Bricks with different butters for a range of cleansing and conditioning levels. Following is a list of the Charcoal Bricks from most cleansing to least.


Charcoal Soap Brick with Georgia Beeswax

This is by far our most cleansing formulation. This is an ideal bar for when someone is in contact with a high amount of sweat, oils or grease. This bar has been made with a 10% superfat, which means there are residual oils in the soap that remain on the skin after rinsing. This conditioning effect is best elevated by pairing with your favorite moisturizer.

Charcoal Soap Brick with Kokum Butter

This Charcoal Soap Brick is similar to our original formula but is made with Kokum butter in place of beeswax, making it a vegan friendly option. Kokum butter is widely used in skincare because it’s emollient while being non-comedogenic. Kokum butter is often sought after by people who are looking to soothe acne, eczema, and other skin irritations. Studies are being done to examine the anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties of kokum butter.

This bar has been made to be highly cleansing and is formulated with a 5% superfat. This will leave a trace amount of oils on the skin after rinsing, but it would be best to follow with your favorite moisturizer or body oil.

Mango butter has conditioning properties and is non-comedogenic, so it’s been intentionally added to this bar to help enhance the natural soothing properties of the other ingredients. Mango butter contains a wide range of amino acids and vitamins which makes it an ingredient many people like to incorporate into their skincare.

This bar has the same cleansing value as the kokum butter, cocoa butter, and shea butter formulas. It is made with a 5% superfat, which will leave a trace amount of oils on the skin after rinsing. This bar is unscented, so it doesn’t contain any essential oils, and has the same cleansing value as the kokum butter, mango butter, and shea butter formulas. It is made with a 5% superfat, which will leave a trace amount of oils on the skin after rinsing. To fully get the benefits of this bar we recommend following with your favorite moisturizer or body oil.

This Charcoal Soap Brick is an updated formula from our original recipe. We’ve increased the amount of olive oil in the soap, which makes this bar higher in oleic acid than any of our other Charcoal Soap Bricks. Although this soap has a high cleansing value, it will be less stripping than our other Charcoal Soap Brick bars. This formula also has a higher conditioning value so if the Original or Butter formulas seem like they may be too strong of a cleanser, this would be a good option to try for something slightly more cleansing than an average soap.

This bar is made with a 5% superfat which will leave a trace amount of oils on the skin after rinsing. To fully get the benefits of this bar we recommend following with your favorite moisturizer or body oil.

Our Packaging:

Sustainability is important to us which is why we choose reusable packaging for our soaps. Each bar comes in an 100% cotton drawstring bag that can be repurposed in a number of ways. Each bag is individually hand dyed, making it uniquely colored and hopefully serves to remind you that each step of the way we have you in mind.

Small Batch Practices:

Each batch of soap we make is under 75 bars. This means there is a high level of attention and consistency with our products. Every step of the process is done to precision from weighing ingredients, monitoring temperatures, and pouring at the right time for the best possible texture. Our soaps are poured 18-24 hours before they are cut with our hand crafted soap cutters - first into logs, then bars, then individually beveled for a smooth, comfortable grip.

Lather Notes:

The high amount of charcoal produces a gray later that may temporarily color your washcloth or surfaces but should easily wash away. If discoloration is a concern, please test prior to regular, prolonged use.
